Founded in 1130, the Abbey of Heylissem was a monastery of canons located in Hélécine, in the heart of Belgium. The monastery also had several mills and a famous brewery, until its abandonment in 1796. In homage to this historic abbey, the Brasserie Val de Sambre brews this beer according to the ancestral recipes and methods. Hélécine Brune is a toasted beer with caramelized and clearly spiced notes. On the nose, malted and toasted notes with a hint of walnut are perceived. The flavor is spiced and marked by a honeyed sweetness. The hops remain discreetly in the background and highlight the graceful body of malt.
